Drink! A wee tipple for the weekend

It’s the St Patrick’s weekend. What better way to celebrate than with a wee nip of whiskey. The lovely people at Bushmills shared their recipe for a tasty Old Fashioned that’s perfect for the weekend that’s in it.

Bushmills say: “The Old Fashioned is a well-loved, classic cocktail and this Paddy’s Day, it would be rude not to make it with a classic Irish Whiskey - Bushmills Black Bush. The Angostura bitters and hint of orange really draws out the rich flavours in the whiskey with every sip.”

Black Bush Old Fashioned

50ml Black Bush® Irish Whiskey

1 teaspoon of demerara sugar syrup*

2 dashes of Angostura bitters

Orange peel

Ice

Method

In a mixing glass, slowly stir the Black Bush®, sugar syrup and Angostura bitters over ice until chilled. Strain over fresh ice in a chilled rocks glass and garnish with the orange peel.

*to make the sugar syrup, simmer 1 cup of unrefined demerara sugar with 1 cup of water until the sugar is fully dissolved. Allow to cool and decant into a glass bottle.
